„GURLZ WITH CURLZ - we are more than stereotypes“ is our latest exhibition which we developed in cooperation with the talented photographer Meki Fekadu aka Zombienanny.
Afro-Hair is a relevant topic, not only since Solange dropped her song "Don’t touch my hair.“ Many german women with an ethnical background talk about having difficulties with their hair since their childhood. Many of them straightened or relaxed it because of shame and insecurity and because they wanted to „fit“ into society to avoid conflicts. Sentences such as "Could you please tie your hair together? It would look more professional in front of the client.“ or "Great hair, may I touch it?“ are part of their all day life.German women with ethnical background don’t look all the same, aren’t all relatives and are much more able to do than just singing or dancing well. Diversity exists in every nationality. Stereotypes and clichés should finally be a thing of the past.
